I recently upgraded from lenny to squeeze and now I'm seeing a warning from Ghostscript about cidfmap when I start it: GPL Ghostscript 8.70 (2009-07-31) Copyright (C) 2009 Artifex Software, Inc. All rights reserved. This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details. Warning: the map file cidfmap was not found. I had a chat with one of the Ghostscript developers about this warning (there seems to be a similar problem in Fedora too): <rillian> yes, there are definitely some packaging bugs <Leonidas> rillian: actually, they introduced that bug by themselves: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=531182 <rillian> indeed <rillian> although to be fair we've rearranged <rillian> where those things are in the last couple of releases So there seems to be a need to re-check what files has moved where and get rid of the warning. This is why I re-opened this bug. Except for the warning Ghostscript seems to be working fine and when I create an empty cidfmap, it works without any warnings correctly. I don't fully understand the original reason for removing cidfmap, I'd be grateful if someone could explain the original reasons for this. It would be nice if a maintainer could take a look at this.
