Package: insserv Version: 1.12.0-11 Severity: normal I just upgraded a machine where a mysql server was present. The mysql-server package has been upgraded from 5.0.81-1 to 5.1.37-2 so mysql-server-5.0 (5.0.81-1) has been removed and mysql-server-5.1 installed. After mysql-server-5.1 was unpacked but before it was configurated, insserv 1.12.0-11 has been unpacked and configurated. But when configurated, an error message tells me that the mysql init.d was left by a package removed and not purged, so the conversion to a dependency boot failed. I'm sorry but I did not write the exact message I got.
If we want insserv to be the default for squeeze, I think we need that such upgrades work out of the box. danj...@atsina:~$ egrep 'mysql-serv|insserv' /var/log/dpkg.log 2009-09-10 12:18:47 upgrade mysql-server 5.0.81-1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:18:47 status half-configured mysql-server 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:47 status unpacked mysql-server 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:47 status half-installed mysql-server 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:47 status half-installed mysql-server 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:47 status unpacked mysql-server 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:18:47 status unpacked mysql-server 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:18:48 status installed mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:48 remove mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:48 status half-configured mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:53 status half-installed mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:54 status half-installed mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:54 status config-files mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:18:54 status config-files mysql-server-5.0 5.0.81-1 2009-09-10 12:19:29 install mysql-server-5.1 <néant> 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:19:29 status half-installed mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:19:29 status half-installed mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:19:30 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:19:30 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:21:26 install insserv <néant> 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:26 status half-installed insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:26 status half-installed insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:26 status unpacked insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:26 status unpacked insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:27 configure insserv 1.12.0-11 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:27 status unpacked insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:27 status unpacked insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:27 status unpacked insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:27 status half-configured insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:21:27 status installed insserv 1.12.0-11 2009-09-10 12:44:05 configure mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status unpacked mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:05 status half-configured mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:12 status installed mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:12 configure mysql-server 5.1.37-2 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:12 status unpacked mysql-server 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:12 status half-configured mysql-server 5.1.37-2 2009-09-10 12:44:12 status installed mysql-server 5.1.37-2 danj...@atsina:~$ Regards, Vincent -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages insserv depends on: ii libc6 2.9-26 GNU C Library: Shared libraries insserv recommends no packages.
