Package: bsdmainutils Version: 8.0.3 Severity: normal
Previously, the "cal" command allowed to select the first day of the week displayed through the -s and -m options. Those options are not available anymore. This change seems to be in contradiction with what the man page says: "The output of the cal command is supposed to be bit for bit compatible to the original Unix cal command, because its output is processed by other programs like CGI scripts, that should not be broken." There seems to be no other way to select the first day of the week being displayed. Changing LANG may have other side effects, like changing the name of the days displayed, hence making it an unsuitable work-around. I suppose that this can hence be considered as a functional regression. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.31-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_BE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_BE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages bsdmainutils depends on: ii bsdutils 1:2.16.2-0 Basic utilities from 4.4BSD-Lite ii debianutils 3.2.2 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.10.1-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libncurses5 5.7+20090803-2 shared libraries for terminal hand bsdmainutils recommends no packages.
