After the zlib upgrade this problem disappars, so I'm merging with 562503, which seem to me to be the same bug, as I learned after reading some of the comments that man-db is using the zlib io functions to also handle non-compressed files. > The severity might need to be higher too, as it makes man-db a bit > unhelpful.
