After the zlib upgrade this problem disappars, so I'm merging with
562503, which seem to me to be the same bug, as I learned after reading
some of the comments that man-db is using the zlib io functions to also
handle non-compressed files.

Now that the problem is not visible anymore, the severity might
warrant being lowered, but I'll leave this up to Colin.
