Oops, I managed to read that as an enthusiastic appreciation for tiling
window managers instead of a name the first time round.

After I managed to get awesome to stop treating Iceweasel as a floating
window I tried to replicate this problem. It seems that it doesn't occur
under awesome.

I'm not aware of any other programs that alter their window size in this
way either.

You mentioned something about a window class. Is there some way to test
with my current iceweasel but with the different window class? I guess
this may involve compiling the iceweasel package?
