Package: bsdmainutils Version: 8.0.5 Severity: normal Hola,
jidanni brought the following mailutils installation warning to my attention in #565530: update-alternatives: warning: forcing reinstallation of alternative /usr/bin/from.mailutils because link group from is broken. update-alternatives: warning: not replacing /usr/bin/from with a link. update-alternatives: warning: not replacing /usr/share/man/man1/from.1.gz with a link. Due to a bug in mailutils' packaging, fixed recently, GNU from was not being registered as an alternative until very recently, so the users had to invoke "from.mailutils". I added the missing bit to postinst, to just find out bsdmainutils has another implementation of from, with apparently compatible behaviour and command line. Would you consider registering from in an alternative so both implementations can coexist? FYI, Mailutils' alternative is installed with priority 20.
