By "you" do you mean the maintainers of the package or the bug
submitter? If you meant the maintainers, then I'll gladly close it.
Do you suggest to put a warning in NEWS.Debian to notice that the O_EXCL
is just advisory and not mandatory in Linux and that other applications
have to cooperate here?
