When the beid source package is in, belpic should be removed automatically (or, failing that, I'll ask for its removal). Note that this will only apply to the 'unstable' development version of Debian; I cannot upload what is basically a rewrite to the 'stable' branch of Debian, even if the usefulness of this software is indeed degrading. There is a 'backports' archive that can be used for updated packages for the stable branch, but this again requires that this version gets accepted into unstable first.
