Just to be sure: How did you check that xmonad does not work? Is the
process still running?

Ok, then the problem is unrelated to the mentioned error message.

Not sure what else there is to easily check. You could, just to find out
more, add a simple xmonad.hs and see what changes. If that does not give
any more insights, I guess you’ll need to dig into the source, adding a
few putStrLn here and there and see what goes wrong.
