Yes it builds in sid and it is not linked with ssl. I leave the bug
open because the LOCALMODLIBS issue is certainly valid. Downgrading
severity.

Note that severity of this bug was originally important, and was bumped to serious as per: - Your package currently hardcodes 2.5 as Python version, and does not build modules for 2.6 even when rebuilt in an environment with 2.6 as default. - Ideally, a package which builds Python extensions should build them for all supported Python version.
