PlayOrder plugins add an item to the 'Order:' combo-box in the main window, which you may then select. Sounds like you just enabled the plugin without changing the active play order in the combo. This two-step process can be unintuitive for users and upstream is considering how best to make it more obvious. Nevertheless, I think it's working as designed.
