Assuming this only affects a few fonts, and/or font aliases, I disagree with the severity, but I'm not going to fight you over it. I wouldn't be inclined to say that this has a "major effect on the usability of the package", even though I'd be happy if the old aliases worked (and I will certainly forward the bug). At least here, setting the font to say "Mono-9" via "-f Mono-9", or something similar in .emacs works fine for now.
