OK but before I try that, just on the chance that the ID is wrong, I
would like to try it with a different ID. However, after looking at all
the UDEV documentation, I have found no way to tell udev "when I plug in
device XXXX:XXXX, I wish you to think in fact that I have plugged in
device YYYY:YYYY." I.e., there is no thought to what to do in case there
is a wrong device number?!

You see the manufacturer sent me
http://filebin.ca/opfxzy/Linux_WL-382F.tar.gz
So I want to see what happens if the device is in fact
I have determined the device must be in fact a an
03eb Atmel Corp.
        7605 at76c503a 802.11b Adapter
maybe that is why all the prism stuff doesn't work.

Here's the manufacturer's email. He said on the phone that my WL-382F/E
is the same as WL-382F, chipwise.
