Hello, Thanks for your report. I'm having trouble reproducing it in a fresh debootstrap of sid amd64 (my pbuilder is currently broken). I'll leave priority as-is for now until I've had more of a chance to have a poke at it. the amd64 buildd seemed to manage ok according to <https://buildd.debian.org/pkg.cgi?pkg=bup>.
