Findings are positive: I just did a complete bobcat rebuild, added --as-needed
to be sure my ld uses that one as well, and the construction proceeded
flawlessly. Also, thanks to the note about using g++ to create the shared lib
the earlier warnings have disappeared. So, Matthias, once again: thanks for
pointing this out to me and thanks for your help along the way; also: George,
thanks for doing a pre-test. I'll let you (=George) know when the next release
is available (soon).
