On the contrary, it's an extremely good idea. It will make your
depends line sensibly smaller, which makes transitions to testing less
painful (fwiw, digikam has been temporarily removed from testing
precisely as a side effect of spurious dependencies).

KDE upstream expects to completely get rid of libtool in KDE 4. KDE
3.5 is frozen, so no more changes will happen to upstream's libtool.
