Please provide openldap compatible schema in /etc/ldap/schema.
Other packages are doing so too:
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/pdns-backend-ldap/filelist:/etc/ldap/schema/dnsdomain2.schema http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/autofs5-ldap/filelist:/etc/ldap/schema/autofs.schema
(and a couple more)

These packages also don't need to be installed on the same machine than the ldap, but they provide the ldap schema in that directory. After setting up the ldap as backend for some apps, I expected the dhcp schema in /etc/ldap/schema/dhcp3.schema (not ldif) ...

For consistency reasons, I vote for placing it in /etc/ldap/schema

Only a low prio wish on the wishlist...
