Bug#658406: ifupdown: prevent dhclient from being sent to bg

A little updated. I have figured out the root cause for my problems. I 
am using preseed for automated installation. preseed configures the 
network as follows:

allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
After adding the:

auto eth0

option, dhclient is run in fg as it should be.
