Well, as said in [1] it would be nice if we can have either a webpage
or a wiki page with the Long description and TODO listed in
/usr/share/doc/$packagename (obviously some apt-tool) but as have no
further info. such as the scm address or/and what the maintainer's
goals are, would be nice if such pages exist (and maintained).

Further than that, I do see that apt-file depends on few perl
libraries. You could always share your comments or where you see these
libraries going and stuff like that. Possibly motivating people to see
if they can contribute. (I know of some students for e.g. who
might/would be interested if such documentation existed in the first
place.) . At the very least it would give a bit more exposure to such
a wonderful tool which I believe is not used as much as it could.
