I'm sorry for running in circles and demanding the wrong things.
I really should hold myself to the standards and
verify even the smallest things.

* ATK is part of the Gnome project [1], but not really a Gnome component. [2] contains only links to gtk (still in version 2).

* The previous dependency on libaccess-bridge-java-jni was, at
least by description [3], to a Gnome component, strangely enough
this one did not depend on gconf.

* In the news files in version 3.0 in [1], dependence on gconf is
obviously considered an error and removed.

* The package description in the recent Ubuntu version [2] has no
dependency on gconf or other components of the Gnome desktop. So
it should be removable.

So while it is still strange to have a dependency to a special
purposes package in the general run-time environment of a
programming language, it seems not so strange as before.

This topic could be closed by removing the gconf dependency of
libatk-wrapper-java-jni. Should this be done by reassigning this
bug or by opening a new one?

With kind regards, Lutz Lehmann
