Hi Elimar, I am now at work, where I've got another notebook, identical to the one at home and with more or less the same software on it (same distribution, same dates for updating, same moc configuration). The symptoms are exactly the same.

See attachment 1. However I tried renaming ~/.moc to something
else and thus starting mocp with the default settings. There was
no change as far as this bug is concerned.
Furthermore, I noticed the following details:
1. Whenever I try to start playing the mp3 file typing <ENTER>,
htop shows for moc a CPU activity of 98% and the fan starts
working. No sound is to be heard, and after a short while the
activity ceases.
2. For a short moment the error message "Error in the stream!"
is shown in the lower left part of the screen.
BTW, I am using ALSA.
I am also attaching a file named "newdeb.txt" which contains a list
of _all_ the packages updated last Tuesday. Nothing had been updated
the week before that date, and nothing has been updated since then.
Mocp was working fine until Monday and stopped working after the
updates.
