Some of the incompatible changes date back to 6.0.7 and were the reason why we stuck with 6.0.6 for sarge. As far as I remember, we've notified upstream about the breakage back then, but despite further ABI changes we're still with the old soname in 6.2.3. I've started another plea for a soname bump at the URL given above. Steve, in the meantime should we go back to the ABI in testing and file bugs on all packages built with 6.2.3 or just wait for a soname bump from upstream, which will require a global recompile anyway?
