Package: cups
Version: 1.4.2-4
Severity: important

When printing from gtk applications like gedit, evince, or gimp cups reports
the following errors in /var/log/cups/error_log

E [29/Mar/2010:10:53:24 +0200] cupsdReadClient: 14 IPP Read Error!
E [29/Mar/2010:10:54:59 +0200] [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file
"/usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv"!
E [29/Mar/2010:10:55:01 +0200] [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file
"/usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv"!

Nothing is printed. We tried different printers on LAN and USB. (HP Laserjet
P3005dn, Epson Stylus DX6000)
We are able to print from non gtk applications and succeeded in printing using
the gutenprint plugin for GIMP. Printing from gvim is possible too.

If this is considered to be a gtk bug, please move this to the corresponding
bugsection.

regards

yeh the bug's still present,

Still present where? With which version of ghostscript did you test?

It would still be useful if you could answer above - even if you cannot test any further with different versions of ghostscript.

Please try the newest packaging as requested here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=78;att=0;bug=583738

I had hoped for help with above, as it is more reliable if those initially experiencing the bug could confirm that the bug has been properly solved.

Unfortunately it seems I get no response here, so I have decided to rely on my own limited testing: Printing a random page (front page of a Nokia AT command documentation) with the GTP-based evince-gtk works fine here, using ghostscript 9.00~dfsg-2. Thus closing as solved.
