Sorry, I must not have communicated that well - I was not suggesting
that you actually remove the autoreconfing, it was only a suggestion
where you initially start your debugging. I mentioned it so it might
save you a small amount of time fixing the underlying issue.

Autoreconfing is a good practice and it would be a shame to revert it.
Besides, this might be a deeper bug in dh-autoreconf that needs
investigating.
