Package: pvm
Version: 3.4.6-3.2
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,

The pvm package is currently installable in sid when openssh-client is
installed and there is no other package providing rsh-client:

  # apt install pvm
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree... Done

pvm is already the newest version (3.4.6-3.2+b1).
  pvm set to manually installed.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
2 not fully installed or removed.
After this operation, 0 B of additional disk space will be used.

  Setting up pvm (3.4.6-3.2+b1) ...
  update-alternatives: error: alternative path /usr/bin/rsh doesn't exist
dpkg: error processing package pvm (--configure):
installed pvm package post-installation script subprocess returned error
exit status 2
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of pvm-dev:
   pvm-dev depends on pvm; however:
Package pvm is not configured yet.

This is caused by a recent change in openssh-client:

  openssh (1:9.1p1-1) unstable; urgency=medium
    [...]
    * Remove obsolete and misleading rcp/rlogin/rsh alternatives, and stop
      providing rsh-client (closes: #197037).

A simple fix for this issue is changing the Depends field from:

  openssh-client | rsh-client

to:

  rsh-client

Best,

Rafael
