Well, 7.2 is the latest release and https://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/ explicitly suggest: "texinfo.tex is updated much more frequently than full Texinfo releases are made; please use the latest version." The breakage occured at 798ff967bbf66d94089569f9509c9dc12730462d
