While SHA2 is relatively cheep, it still takes a lot of time on the given image sizes of 30GiB, somewhat between four and six minutes. Currently the image build process takes 16 minutes. 14 minutes are exclusively needed to compress the image, as saving a 30GB sparse file and providing it for others to download is nothing nice to do. Also I'm not really sure what you want to check with this checksums. The image uploaded to the Azure infrastructure gets modified with an additional header, so you can't directly compare the checksum. Bastian -- Dammit Jim, I'm an actor, not a doctor.
