[1] I think that the alpha hardware is less variable than the full set of pc hardware. [2] I think this whole "startup" issue has already been addressed. When I look in linux-2.4.19/arch/i386/boot/video.S, I see an unconditional #define CONFIG_VIDEO_VESA [3] Both of my above statements are tangential to the decision of whether or not we should enable vesafb. Neither statement has a lot of bearing on whether it's good for us to enable vesa support in linux 2.4.19 Thanks, -- Raul
