I would *love* to have Debian mandate symbol versioning. But it is extremely unforgiving of soname fuckups (one usually uses the soname as the versioning, unless one knows much better AND one is upstream), so it is not as easy to get people to adopt it as I'd like. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
