And it depends on the goal of the author. If I recall correctly, the author of freerdp changed the licence to a „less free” one, because companies wouldn’t pay him money if they had to give back to code to the public. And since he wanted to make money, he changed the licence to Apache-2.0. Some developer jumped the ship.
