+1 I think Russ's explanation is a good example of how focus on developer freedom can lead one to believe non-copyleft FOSS is sufficient (and sometimes even simpler to work with than copyleft), whereas focus on end-user freedom leads one towards wanting copyleft licenses. I don't think that choice has anything to do with tactic vs ethics. IMHO focus on developer freedom misses a major point of why free software is important: software freedom is important for our users; its effect for developers are second to that. Where these goals are in conflict, I prefer to promote end-user rights. /Simon
