Does anytime know if the maintainers of SSSD are still active? There don't
appear to have been any binary uploads for quite some time (March, I
believe), the entire suite was auto-pulled from testing 2 months ago with no follow-up action, and it looks like there are a couple outstanding CVEs.

I can say that for those using Debian in a corporate or education
environment, the lack of SSSD pretty much makes Debian unusable (it's how we [used to] plug into Active Directory enterprise auth/account providers). Do we need to solicit new (or more) maintainers for this? I would step in, but my bandwidth is limited and I'm not up to speed on the current Debian
package maintenance policies and procedures.

I've done drive-by uploads of sssd, and I'm happy to help co-maintain
it, but I don't have the relevant sssd-knowledge to do any non-trivial
packaging changes that appears to be required.

Maybe you could start looking into packaging latest upstream, doing only
minimal debian/ changes that is required to make it work?  Put it on
Salsa and upload to experimental if you are interested in joining the
team (I'm hoping contributions are welcome).

I use sssd for account management on Debian machines at work, so I have some modest experience with it and I'm happy to help out where I can.

As sudo has recently dropped its LDAP support and is referring to sssd as replacement, and I am the sudo maintainer, I would be willing to put in some work as well. I don't have a test installation though (but would be willing to build a small setup).

I would like to suggest to the sssd maintainers (Cc'ed from changelog) to change the maintainer address to [email protected] so that interested parties can subscribe easily.

Greetings
Marc

Hi,

I'm happy to step out of the way, it's been a long term plan anyway.

2.13.0 did not build when I tried in May, and looks like 2.13.1 is still the same

/usr/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-ld.bfd: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkeyutils.so.1: error adding symbols: DSO missing from command line

and I haven't had time to debug why. Pushed packaging to git, anyone is free to fix this and send a MR.
