The command "env|grep TMPDIR" has no output. so $(TMPDIR) and $(CURDIR)/tmp is the same dir on my OS. "make distclean" don't erased the temporary directory in my home folder. ~/.tmp . I guess your OS had already definited the ENVIRONMENT variable TMPDIR before,the value is ~/.tmp .
