I guess this is a slightly different approach as it would be installed on the thin client server, not on each thin client? It sounds like it would achieve what I'm talking about alright. Assuming it works as advertised it appears to be better actually as it doesn't constrict machines should nothing else need the free bandwidth. I realise that a good switch might well be able to do this but my impression is that Skolelinux should have as few expensive hardware requirements as possible. If this is built into the skolelinux system then: 1. the functionality will just be there (a switch would need specialist configuration which we couldn't document) 2. it would always work even if all one can afford is a cheap hub.
