I perfectly agree :-) I do however recommend that Skolelinux define in details what is required to be part of the "Skolelinux cabal". Some technical responsibilities, like releasing a CD image (judging from what sources packages should be included) and subsequent package updates, require high level of trust: Large networks rely on those actions. Ideally, those technical judgements are done within Debian, but only when the goal of becoming a true CDD (with everything within Debian) is this doable: Debian developers has a GPG "ring of trust", which can be used to digitally assure also the Debian-edu releases. Until then, I recommend defining what is an official Skolelinux release, who can issue a release, and how to become member of that trusted group. Even if the answer is simply "do enough and others will silently trust you to tasks like this" then I recommend it to be explicitly documented somewhere, so users know what trust can be put in such releases. Don't get me wrong: I don't want Debian to "steal" the political decision of when to release a new version of Skolelinux/Debian-Edu, even when a CDD. I imagine that Debian in future releases releases their generic distribution with Debian-edu (and Debian-med and other) capabilities built-in but not the default, and Skolelinux decides for themselves when to request releases of their specific Debian-edu CDD (media containing only the stuff relevant for Skolelinux, and asking only the Debian-edu install questions by default). - Jonas - -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist og Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ - Enden er nær: http://www.shibumi.org/eoti.htm -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFD9vWln7DbMsAkQLgRAiLNAJ96eeXrh/yyuV8YLi9PZwZRIpcFFACfa7GE NvZIgeqzNUsEbAt8hYLVFrU= =VNlx -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
