It might get tricky to implement them net-wide if you use different versions of KDE... - the original idea was in my eyes something that was meant to be handled by cfengine: Save maintainance work for workstations, for instance by synchronizing dpkg-selections. For this purpose, sharing apt-settings net-wide would really make sense. There are other approaches, of course, from cfengine over FAI to CiPux's client-rollout.
