Dear All
Thanks for always giving me good advice. I haven't had time to further investigate printing - just put on hold for now.

I was wondering about the amount of traffic to and from a workstation. We have a "temporary" building (ie. permanent but cheap) which is connected to the main building by a wireless link which sometimes drops packets, depending on the weather or whether we really need it to work well or not that day. Skolelinux workstations in that building are very slow compared to identical machines in the main building. This is because they are constantly shuffling data to tjener, right?
Is there something I can do about it? eg. stop some services.

Standalone computers over there (win and lin) are fine - sometimes the internet is a bit slow, and sometimes it takes a while to save a file to tjener (via samba), but basically the machine is responsive, unlike the workstations.

thanks
nigel
