Hi Ben, I can confirm this behaviour, too. Some day, soon after change to libnotify-bin (but not WITH the change to libnotify-bin!)m OSD did not work any more.
To specify it more exactly: some osd messages do still appear, such as the bar when Fn+volume up or volume down are pressed, but I am not sure, these depend on eeepc-scripts and libnotify. As I am using KDE, there might be KDE- specials, which might also create osd-messages. What I can confirm: Fn + space , Fn + brightness and the key for disabling touchpad do never show an osd message. This behaviour appears with or without "acpi_osi=Linux". In my case I have to use "acpi_osi=Linux", as my EEEPC 1005 HGO needs this (eeepc-wmi is not supported by my hardware, because the vendors kept the specs secret). If you wonder, why I filed no bugreport: This is easy to explain. As I seemed to be the only user in the world with this problem, I did not want to waste your ressources in this work for a single person. :) As it looks now, other people have too, maybe a bug might be opened? Thanks for the work and have a nice weekend!
