I would point out that the patch suggested at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=667821 is
working perfectly on my eeepc 1000he. Tested under Gnome, Xfce and Lxde
(and Openbox, Fluxbox...).
However, I take the opportunity to point out that the notifications,
with or without patch, cease to work when using systemd.
