Léo Goehrs <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: | The loopback adress is very different from a NIC.
Sorry if i still want to clarify it....I was thinking that only 127.0.0.1 ever is loopback....now you seem to say that also eth0=192.168.1.2 will be treated as loopback, by the kernel router, when the hostname is configured to be resolved by this address (for example via /etc/host) ? So loopback is just 'never reaches the physical interface, never leaves kernelspace' ? Is this a valid way to express what happens ? Micha m°
