PS: i will test will the unstable dpkg version (i use the
experimental one , but there are not many changes by now ).

Even sending the bug report leads to errors:
i have a hundreds md5sums does not match (as the files are
missing ...). Then it asks if i really want to send the report.

By the way are those hundreds characters for a file really
usefull ? The documetation must not have reach the billion of
billion pages by now ... else adding more directory may help :)

Alban

The "File name too long" is an error returned by the rename() call,
specifically ENAMETOOLONG.

This filename is too long for your filesystem. I don't think dpkg
should randomly truncate or alter filenames, therefore there's nothing
dpkg can do here other than abort the installation.
