Please feel free to add to the list package that could be related to the one

geotiff would be useful to improve pywps test coverage:

I can't find the motivation to package an optional dependency and commit to its
maintenance for a package I don't actually use myself.

We really need to get more geopython people involved in packaging, since Johan
v/d Wauw stopped contributing all of those packages are on life support not
getting the attention they need.

What packages are you referring to exactly?

pycsw & pywps specificly as geopython projects, but basically everything that has
"Johan Van de Wauw" in Uploaders.

We're still ignoring dh_auto_test failures for pycsw for example, because I
can't find the motivation to patch the tests to make skipping online tests
possible.

pycsw is also in non-free because of its inclusion of OGC schemas, and non-free
is not covered by reproducible-builds.

avce00 is dead upstream, but grass uses is which is why I haven't filed RM bugs
for it and e00compr.

fiona & rasterio are in reasonable shape, but I don't like the long list of
ignored tests, we should have specific markers to skip or skipif conditions for
problematic architectures.

geolinks is a trivial package but effectively dead upstream, it has active
rdeps.

hdf4 is in reasonable shape since the packaging overhaul for 4.3.1, but we're
bundling shared libraries in a single package. That might become less ugly if
upstream merges their libraries in 4.4.0, I doubt upstream will do that though
despite having it on their wishlist.

owslib is in reasonable shape, but no active Uploaders.

python-affine & python-cligj are in reasonable shape, but seem dead upstream
and no active Uploaders.

python-geojson is in reasonable shape, but no active Uploaders.

python-geopandas ignores tests instead of using more refined markers to skip
specific issues.

saga is in reasonable shape, license & copyright review for new upstream
releases is a bit of a pain due to the upstream source tree structure.

I could try to take in charge at least some of them if you want.

Please add yourself to Uploaders of the packages Johan is if you're willing to
commit to the package(s) in question.

If we were to remove inactive Uploaders from our package to reflect their
actual involvement, we'll end up with many packages without human maintainers.

I've considered doing that and simply adding lintian overrides for
no-human-maintainer as it's not on the ftp-master autoreject list, but that
work should be part of a larger housekeeping endeavor to also cleanup inactive
Salsa members, and I haven't found the motivation yet to add scripts for that.
The Perl team does this, but I haven't looked at which scripts they use for
that and whether those are reusable by other teams.

Kind Regards,

Bas
