The problem is ages old. In the meantime we have migrated our build environment from RH6.2 to 7.2, and the problem became irrelevant for us. From my point of view its OK to close this bug report.
But there are still incompatibilities between glibc 2.2.4 of RH7.2 and glibc 2.3.1-14. Our major GUI (built on RH7.2) does a reproducable core dump when I run it on Sid. Are you interested in another bug report?
