Well it's not coreutils bug, and I think it's not glibc bug; see my
mail in #93810.
I don't agree with your conclusion. AEST and EST may both be used, and EST may even be more prominant in .au. (Of course, the google search results aren't useful because it's unclear which EST the hits refer to...) But it seems that people in .au can understand what AEST refers to and that using AEST would eliminate some confusion. I don't see a down side to using AEST instead of EST.
