Package: tzdata Version: 2026c-0+deb13u1 Severity: important Tags: patch Control: found -1 2026c-0+deb12u1
Dear Maintainer, trixie (2026c-0+deb13u1) and bookworm-security (2026c-0+deb12u1) still carry tzdata 2026c. On 2026-11-01 at 02:00, America/Winnipeg (with Canada/Central and America/Rainy_River) and America/Inuvik will fall back by one hour on these systems. Under tzdata 2026d and 2026e (both in unstable as 2026e-1), they stay on -05 and -06. trixie-proposed-updates and bookworm-proposed-updates are empty, and the last point release was 13.7 on 2026-09-12. On stock debian:13 and debian:12 images, for 2026-11-02 12:00 UTC: TZ=America/Winnipeg date -d '2026-11-02 12:00Z' +%z gives -0600 (expected -0500) TZ=America/Inuvik date -d '2026-11-02 12:00Z' +%z gives -0700 (expected -0600) We prepared 2026e-0+deb13u1 and 2026e-0+deb12u1 and tested them in containers: - trixie: merge upstream 2026e (orig tarball identical to IANA's, signature good) and add Revert-Fix-POSIX-conformance-of-old-SysV-names.patch from 2026e-1 unchanged. - bookworm: the same, but the existing revert-systemv-deprecation.patch does not apply to 2026d or later on its own (4 of 5 hunks fail in backward). It applies cleanly when the 2026e-1 revert patch is listed before it in debian/patches/series. Results: - After upgrading, both zones give the expected offsets, and so do Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Regina and Casablanca. - For every installed zone, a zdump -v -c 1800,2040 before/after comparison shows changes in only America/Winnipeg, Canada/Central, America/Rainy_River, America/Inuvik, America/Bogota, Asia/Tehran, Iran, Europe/Dublin and Eire, which matches the 2026d/2026e NEWS. No zone is added or removed. CET, CST6CDT, EET, EST, EST5EDT, HST, MET, MST, MST7MDT, PST8PDT and WET are unchanged. - The file lists of tzdata (and tzdata-legacy on trixie) are identical to 2026c. - The python, chrono and test_timezone_conversions autopkgtests from 2026e-1 pass on trixie, with and without tzdata-legacy. On stock 2026c, only test_2026d and test_2026e fail. bookworm's own python test passes. We can send the debdiffs if they would help.
