Well, I did as stated below and now the fonts that installed (not the standard) ones are no longer listed by Gnome. I install the msttcorefonts as well as some other fonts. It worked well, but now when I choose "fonts" to set the desktop and applications fonts, they are not part of the list.
I when I do xlsfonts I get them. Meaning XFS is still serving the TTF fonts. Anyone have insignt into this.
