I am using gnome from unstable but I still get what I think was described as the "ugly old lpr" print dialog in both evolution and gedit. Is the printer dialog that you lot are seeing different from the one shown here, http://www.jeacocke.org.uk/2003/stewart/cups_print_sshot.png
