Well, i could, but my priorities right now lie in the debian kernel packages, some debian-installer stuff, some parted/libparted work, and making sure my other packages are ready for the sarge release. So, do you feel like taking over kernel maintainership, so i dedicate myself in discussing this with the gnome folk ? And for your info, i will probably be doing RL work in supporting linux on the desktop, with gnome as dekstop environment, to some corporate users, and i am having some real doubt about the quality of our gnome packages, especially as i am told about problems like esd not being killed when the user logs out, or the lacking usb-stick support for example. I will come to this later, but my priorities are hunting kernel-level bugs right now. > > And add another list to the ones i read, no thanks. Well, i expected to get the debian gnome maintainers to acknowledge the problem, but apparently this is not only not the case, and as said, i am wasting my time. I will thus stop ranting like you and Michael say i am doing it, and not disturb you anymore. But be sure that i will relay user usability queries as bug report in the future. And i still feel that it is the duty of a debian maintainer to be the interface between the users (and co-developers) and upstream, but maybe i am dreaming, and not everyone has the same kind of dedication to its users.
