I'm not so sure about that. For some strange reason, the kde metapackage depends on xmms: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ LANG=C sudo apt-get remove xmms Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done The following extra packages will be installed: libavcodeccvs liblame0 libpostproc0 The following packages will be REMOVED: kde kdeaddons kicker-applets mplayer-fonts mplayer-k6 xmms xmms-bumpscope xmms-crossfade xmms-goom xmms-infinity xmms-iris xmms-jess xmms-osd-plugin xmms-synaesthesia The following packages will be upgraded: libavcodeccvs liblame0 libpostproc0 3 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 14 to remove and 274 not upgraded. Need to get 1831kB of archives. After unpacking 22.0MB disk space will be freed. Do you want to continue? [Y/n] That's the only reason why it is still on my box. I don't think I'm the only one.
