Speed 2.0x DVD is about 2.6 MB/s = 18.5 x CD speed. That must have been quite noisy. Well, the drive did not report any read errors. The track size matches the size of debian-7.0-hppa-NETINST-1.iso. Does booting the CD-RW fail reliably ? Even immediately after shutdown when the machine is warm ?
